The ACT Government wishes to advise of the cancellation of the Sri Chinmoy Triple-Triathlon which was scheduled to take place tomorrow, Sunday 23 November 2014.

The event has been cancelled for safety reasons, with a high probability that a total fire ban will be declared for tomorrow, and the subsequent closure to the public of all areas of Canberra Nature Park. The decision to cancel the event was not taken lightly and was made in the interests of people’s health and safety.

The ACT Government understands the disappointment the postponement of this event may cause participants and spectators and will work with the race organisers to re-schedule the event. Details on the new event date will be made available on the Sri Chinmoy website at http://au.srichinmoyraces.org/

The ACT Government is very thankful to the Sri Chinmoy organisers for their support over this decision. The Sri Chinmoy event organisers will be at the Majura Community Centre this afternoon at the advertised time of registration to discuss the situation and answer any questions.

Are they really expecting to run fast enough to throw off sparks? Better safe than sorry, I suppose.
