Several (many) years ago, toward the end of market day day during “O” week, a little old lady in a small hatchback managed to drive (through a crowd of bemused people), all the way down the pedestrian section of University Ave, and over the large flight of stairs, becoming wedged half way down.
Why would you need a cordon, prevent theft from a car wreck?
I have seen cordons around wrecks before. I believe the police use them, not to prevent theft, but to mark out a area while it is being investigated. I would have thought you would be familiar with such behaviour vg?
It may be mentioned in the link but for those that can’t be bothered clicking it, the car was involved in a fatal accident a few years ago that saw a young Army Officer Cadet get killed when the car struck a concrete bollard up the back of Russell Offices. The driver, an exchange student from the UAE was drunk, speeding and lost control of the car and it slid sideways, impacting the bollard adjacent to the deceased’s seat.
I’ve seen it close up and it’s not pretty. I made sure my kids took a long hard look at it.
Police Demonstration to the young ‘un’s the consequences of speed/drink or drug driving, etc?
You’d think if someone had (bizarrely) been able to do that to a car in that space, it’d still be a towie taking it away.
It’s an exhibit. http://the-riotact.com/?p=13106
Move along.
Aren’t university students supposed to be smart?

I don’t care what anyone says but I love p1′s Riotact Google map page!
Ah, exhibit, sorry! At the time I was walking to a meeting – would’ve figured it out otherwise. Lack of proper cordon is somewhat of an obvious clue…
Still, I find it strange they were there for less than three hours – I didn’t see it when I went by at 11am, and it was gone before 2pm.

Not strange at all, it’s lunch time which is when most of the students will be around.

Why strange less than 3 hrs. It may have been a 2hr show.
Are you studying rocket science?

Law and Medicine, yes. Engineering, mostly. This though is near the Arts faculty, where lecturers complain about how they can’t drive or cross a road.
Had enough time to log this on but not find out the cause – can’t wait till you get your degree.
Maybe this is the work of Mr Chong see http://the-riotact.com/?p=15644

Ahhh, so it is the car from that crash. Always sad when people end up dead so pointlessly.
