The Capital Metro light rail agency has awarded more than $600,000 to a consulting company without testing the market according to freedom of information documents, Shadow Minister for Transport Alistair Coe said today.

CPO Lammers and the team are on video getting out and about in the party crowd over the weekend.
Quite a lot of breathalysing going on too.
As we work down to the end of the year we present four great parking pictures from each month.
January gave us:
1) Sheepgroper’s spot in Pialligo:
2) On Kingston’s Jardine St Sirocco found an Audi doing what comes naturally:
3) Arf gave us an A for effort in Yarralumla:
4) The Gungahlin Magnet Mart presented this opportunity for Allen:

I know I am going to cop a bit of a flaming for this but hopefully the message will get through to some people:
I am not overly interested in the debate as it has been done to death, just watch and listen.
The ABC confirms that troubled local carrier Brindabella Airlines is in fact a dead parrot:
Up to 140 staff at Brindabella Airlines have been stood down after the regional carrier went into receivership.
Staff have been told they will not be receiving any redundancy payments.
The Canberra-based airline is millions of dollars in debt and is now [...]
Is there any government / police / other website out there that posts traffic updates re delays because of road closures, roadworks or accidents?
Tonight I was in a rush around 2am and I was coming from gungahlin/mitchell to woden. I was speeding but I thought there was only 2 speeding cameras (3k before woden turn off & 500m after woden turn off)
Is there one near gungahlin/mitchell and around where? I didn’t see any flashes at all.
If, God help you, government services are essential to you this Christmas you’d better get reading on what’s available.
The lazy bastards at ACTION will be going to reduced services from Monday 23 December.
Taking into account the weekends before and after they’re largely taking off from 21 December to 6 January despite there only being 3 [...]
The ABC reports that CASA has again taken to the troubled Brindabella Airlines with a big stick:

The Deputy Prime Minister has just informed the House that Holden will be closing Australian operations by 2017.
For the many, many Canberrans who have enjoyed the antics of white Commodore drivers over the years it is a black day.
What will take its place?

Government News is indulging in some speculation on what the next generation of comcars will be if Holden closes down Australian manufacturing.
In particular what will the treasured Prime Ministerial C-1 be?
If the “buy Australian” imperative goes where would the value for money proposition lie for the lordlings on the hill?
Gee, it seems we Canberrans will cop anything – even the rubbish they call road re-sealing. You see (hear and feel) all the loose aggregate (stones) and you think ‘oh, this is temporary, they’ll be back to put the proper bitumen coat on’. But they don’t. So our streets now resemble something worse than you’ll [...]
There’s been a lot of grief about Brindabella Airlines among regional NSW users. For the last 3 weeks, we have had abrupt cancellations, and inappropriate rescheduling.
By inappropriate rescheduling, I mean, receiving an SMS on Saturday afternoon about a flight change from Monday morning to Monday evening. With customer service phones only working from Monday to [...]
For decades to come visitors to Canberra will be confused by reference to “The Red Bridge” which is clearly grey.
Another John has sent in these images of the construction down Molonglo Reach:
Cycling round da lake gonna be back to normal soon
If these here photos are anything to go by.
It’ll be a shame knowing that we, [...]

I have not seen another thread regarding this, forgive me if this is a re-post. I am wondering if anyone else has noticed that the recent ripping up of the Cotter road / Streeton drive intersection and surrounding roads, has included ripping up nearly 100 metres of recently upgraded roadway. I’m specifically talking about [...]
I was driving along Coulter Drive turning right onto Ginninderra drive.
I was quite tired at the time and didn’t see when it went orange and simply thought I could make it and wasn’t familiar with the area.
I definitely ran it when it was red (a second after it went red) as I didn’t [...]
