Chief Minister Gallagher is offering a sniff of gold (but just a sniff mind you) in the hope it will motivate you to update your medicare address:
Chief Minister, Katy Gallagher, has called on new Canberrans to update their residential details with Medicare between now and March 2, for a chance to win $10,000.
“These figures are important for a number of reasons including for the Australian Bureau of Statistics who use Medicare data to calculate population figures as well the Commonwealth Government to allocate GST funding to communities,” the Chief Minister said.
“For every year that an ACT resident is not counted, the ACT Government forgoes over $2,500 in GST funding.”
The Medicare Update Your Address Campaign encourages people who have recently moved to Canberra to update their Medicare address to the ACT, and therefore increase the ACT’s share of GST revenue which can then be spent improving the city we all live in and enjoy.
