Children of Prisoners. Canberra Research Project

The Institute of Child Protection Studies, ACU, is currently undertaking research to deepen the understanding of children’s needs by exploring their experiences of parental incarceration.

Commissioned by SHINE for Kids, the research will provide new insights into how services might work more effectively and responsively to reduce future involvement in welfare, health and criminal justice systems, improve children’s well-being and increase their participation in society.

We are seeking young people in the ACT aged 8 – 18 years, and their parents or carers who have experienced incarceration, to participate in an interview for this project, at a time and place that is suitable to them. Interview participants will receive a $40 gift voucher for providing their time.
