Update to follow.

1:15 PM

ACT Fire & Rescue has confirmed a double brick veneer garage is fully engulfed in flames at the property in Kiek Place.

Two adjacent homes have been evacuated as a precaution.

At this early stage it’s not believed there was anyone inside the garage when the fire started.

A number of people have reported hearing explosions.

Firefighting efforts are being hampered at the moment by an over hanging powerline.

ACTEW has been requested to cut power to the property to allow fire crews to commence a direct attack on the fire.

1:28 PM

The fire has been extinguished with crews able to prevent its spread to nearby buildings..

The garage has been totally destroyed by the fire. The cause is unknown but will be investigated.

An overhanging powerline affected by the fire is still live at this stage
