The 8th annual ‘School Stars Band Competition’ hosted by the CIT Music Industry Centre is now calling for entries from school and college students in the ACT region.

The competition gives young Canberra musicians opportunity to develop stagecraft skills, receive feedback from music industry judges, win great prizes, and collect a free DVD of their performance.

Entry is open to bands and solo artists currently studying Year 7-12 in the ACT and surrounding regions, who play in a contemporary style including rock, metal, pop, blues, hip-hop, electronica, jazz and funk.

This year’s competition is on Thursday 24 October 6:30-10:00pm at the CIT Music Industry Centre at CIT Woden, and registration is completely free.

Bands and soloists can register online from Monday 9 September at is.gd/CITSchoolStars and registrations close Monday 14 October at 9am.

Prizes include studio recording time at the CIT Music Industry Centre valued at $2,000, CIT Music Industry Centre scholarship, and gift vouchers, plus all performers receive a free live DVD of their performance valued at $1,000.

The three prize categories are ‘Best Band’, ‘Best Solo Performer’ and ‘Most Liked’, with winners decided by a panel of judges comprising respected professionals from the local music industry.
