Canberra’s two peak private industry advocacy bodies voted to unite under one banner on Wednesday, in a move that an ACT business leader has described as ”the best possible outcome for business in the ACT”, according to the Canberra Times.
An almost unanimous vote from members of both bodies will see both organisations dissolve and combine as a new entity. Hopes are that this will provide a stronger voice for business in Canberra.
The Canberra Business Council split from the ACT Chamber of Commerce more than 40 years ago, but members are now convinced that reforming will foster talent pools and maximise strength and impact going forward.
The new organisation is yet to be named and this will be up to the new board, who will also decide new membership cost.
