Corinbank have pushed out an omnibus media release covering all the latest news from next month’s festival.

Of particular interest to local music fans is this bit:

The incredible Andi & George Band have announced they are splitting up. Canberrans will have one last chance to see this amazing band play to a hometown crowd at Corinbank festival on Sunday March 1st.

Andi & George have had a hugely positive impact on Canberra, and their interstate profile has increased dramatically over the past 12 months. The split is a sad blow to the Canberra music scene, and will no doubt trigger strong emotions for their many fans

Corinbank Program Manager Mark Bradley says “I’m incredibly sad that they’re splitting up, we will miss them. But we’re grateful we all have one last chance to say goodbye and thanks to this wonderful band. It is truly an honour for Corinbank to host their farewell.”

    Other Farewells at Corinbank 2009
Corinbank 2009 sees a number of other farewells: funk outfit Casual Projects are relocating to Melbourne in 2009, Alison from popular folk duo The Cashews heads north and with her goes Dan Kempers, drummer for Dubba Rukki, the Ellis Collective, and Fire on The Hill. Corinbank is a must-do in 2009!

It’ll be a little sad to see so many bands leaving or changing, but there always seems to be someone new stepping up to the plate.
