Critical Mass coming to Canberra

By johnboy - 26 September 2013 6

critical mass

The Critical Mass movement is a great bit of fun if you like cycling.

Even better is that it’s come to Canberra starting this Friday:

Gathering 5:45pm, Launching 6pm, Garema Place, ending at The Civic Pub in Braddon.
Last Friday of every month

To bring: a self-powered vehicle with wheels, as many lights/bike-accesories as you can muster, a love of bikes.

Being Canberra, we think a Critical Courteous Mass is the way to go, but it’s a leaderless ride – where we take it is up to us.

What’s Your opinion?

I don’t understand. It would take about 2 minutes to ride from Garema Place to that pub. And that’s at my speed.

I am probably being thick though.

Also, do you have to be able to lift a bike above your head to participate?

I think the idea is to not go the most direct way.

Based on the gentleman bottom-left: no (but it also appears that you can be Photoshopped in later if you can’t make it).

Critical Mass is pretty much the Rushhour equivalent of the bike world – bunch of dick waving hipster bike douches.

So they’ll fit right in with Canberra’s resident lycra brigade. Or do you think a turf war is imminent?

With any luck. Pro: It could be quite amusing to watch. Con: “…the victor would emerge stronger than either, and free from doubt” (Gandalf)

Thanks!

The idea that people might deliberately take longer than necessary to get to a pub never occurred to me.
