The ABC has a story on proposals by the Independent Competition and Regulatory Commission for electricity supply in the ACT to be de-regulated, bringing more competition for ActewAGL.

They’re also proposing pre-paid electricity which I suspect (someone correct me if I’m wrong) is like the “keys” in the UK which you have to get charged at a petrol station if you want to keep the lights on. They’re not for everyone, but in group houses they’re fantastic for getting all the house-mates to turn off the lights they don’t need.

bad idea.

5 bucks says pre-paid electricity will be more expensive than ‘on tap’.

screw the poor again.
