As much as the all-pervasiveness of CCTV in Britain makes me horrified, I think there is a serious lack of surveillance in our city centres. Not on every street corner like in London, but just in the major urban centres. We wouldn’t even need to have people constantly watching the screens, we could just have the footage there for access by investigators when shit like this happens.

I hope the injured person is all-right and that those responsible are brought to justice.

I wouldn’t go near Civic on a Friday or Saturday night for all the tea in China. And I’ve cheerfully wandered the streets at night in London, Paris, LA, Seoul and Queanbeyan.

Maybe I’m just getting old.
