It’s the weekend!

Well it is for most of you, you’ve probably taken today off on leave.

Here in the mobile RiotACT bunker however we don’t rest. So let’s get to it.

Sorry the guide wasn’t up yesterday, but Anzac Day and all that.

Elm Grove Open Day
National Trust (ACT)

Enjoy a day at heritage-listed Elm Grove, a fully functioning rural holding. Watch a sheep-shearing demonstration, lace-making, wood-turning, join a garden tour with Mark Carmody, listen to the 100 year old carousel organ, and be delighted by professional storyteller Elizabeth Burness. Colonial firearms on display. Bring a picnic or enjoy a sausage sizzle, ice cream, or Devonshire tea.

Queanbeyan’s Living History – Open Day

Sunken Stories of Old Acton Lake Cruise

Join us as we share the ‘sunken stories’ of Old Acton in this special tour. Visit sites now submerged under Lake Burley Griffin, including the Acton cottages, race-course, hockey fields, nursery, golf club, then stop for morning-tea on Springbank Island, the home of many tales. Hear and share stories and see images collected from past residents and visitors.

Cotter Dam Discovery Trail – Guided Walk

Canberra is where it is today thanks to the reliable flows of the Cotter River. The next milestone in the Cotter River story is the completion of the new Cotter Dam. Join us for a guided tour of the 1.4km Cotter Dam Discovery Trail and learn about the area’s heritage and what it takes to build a dam in the 21st century.

Good Old Days at Gorman House: The Sixties and Seventies

Set in heritage-listed buildings and gardens of the Gorman House Arts Centre visitors will be invited to re-experience decades past during this special themed event, featuring period dress, stalls, dance, displays, music, activities, games and children’s entertainment. Open Days Tuggeranong Schoolhouse Museum
‘History with a Difference’

Memories will flood back for older visitors and youngsters will be surprised as they step back into a late 19th century schoolhouse. Servicing countless farming families, the school and attached cottage which once housed the school master and family, now displays the way of life from yesteryear.
