Does anyone know whatever happened with that dead lady found in her car in Ngunnawal?

| PBO

Am curious as i have not heard anymore and Canberra media is great for announcing things and not giving closure.

DMD: You worried that the douche is ignoring us?

Special G – what’s whatever I do, got to do with you ?

I’m not the one continually dribbling, I felt the need to remove myself from being associated in the same group as the trolls.

I note that my not talking to them has irritated them further – I’m happy to laugh at the humour in the irony.

Whether or not I have people I elect to talk to, or not to talk to, is solely my domain, unless you wish to impart some $$$, and then I’ll consider the terms of the contract.

Special G – Feck yeah!

Deadmandrinking1:38 pm 16 May 08

Goddamn moderation.

Special G – Heck yeah?

I’m actually going to agree with DMD and tap for once. Maelinars brown/black list is just crap and he needs to pull his head out of his arse and get some colour perception back.

On another note (world issues) where do I get me one of those jet packs the swiss pilot was getting around on. (to link this to Canberra) This would be a great was of getting around the place and it was reported in the crimes.

You plebs should continue this conversation in this thread.

Deadmandrinking1:21 pm 16 May 08

But I don’t mind the little, local, kinda non-important stories. Like burgers, both righties and lefties come together on the subject of burgers.

You can always post ‘world going to sh*t’ stories.

Julius Constantius1:00 pm 16 May 08

I totally agree Tap, I would rather discuss the real issues that affect us as a country and as a territory. The cat up the tree story is getting a little old and simply I want to know about things that have some real impact on me as a person and the people I share this world with.
Everything is worth discussing but I believe you need to put your priority rating switch on and think about what is really more important and this present time.
Cat up tree? Or world going to shit? lol

JC: I guess its just cause the lady was a bit closer to home.

And this forum is supposed to be canberra only (with a few fair enough exceptions). Which i personally think is crap, i agree there is certainly bigger issues that could be discussed here.

Julius Constantius12:20 pm 16 May 08

Wow people seem to be getting might upset over one dead lady. I don’t actually mean that disrespectfully. But how about the 10’s of thousands of Burmese, I don’t hear anyone saying we shouldn’t discuss the circumstances or the people involved in that tragedy. Sure the title of the post could be a little more sensitive in regards to the subject matter but I don’t see the problem with discussing things that happen in our local and global community.

Deadmandrinking12:03 pm 16 May 08

But there’s the unknown knowns.

He’s gotta know he’s a moron subconsciously. Even a moron could figure that out.

DMD clearly thats only an ORANGE level offense. As maelinar knows, there are known knowns. There are things maelinar knows maelinar knows. Maelinar also knows there are known unknowns. That is to say maelinar knows there are some things maelinar does not know. But there are also unknown unknowns, the ones maelinar doesn’t know maelinar doesn’t know.

Careful FC, you may make the BROWN LIST!!!!

I kind of agree with you, the information was in the public domain. However, it’s usually safe to assume that if nothing has followed it up (i.e. a murder investigation), it was probably something else which we won’t hear about for good reasons.

Maeliner – It is not inappropriate, nor is it insensitive, particularly as it is seeking further evidence over what was reported in the press – public information. Read the top post by PBO again to confirm.

For the first time in Riot history I actually agree with Mael.

I agree it is a sad and horrible thing that happened, however after reading this thread I am baffled as to why there are so many requests to “delete” it.
It seems far less insensitive that SO MANY other threads on here.

No, but the media refers to persons by their suburb of residence in every story ever written and never by their ethnic/cultural background.

Actually, I think that every so often they refer to people based on their ethnicity, if they feel it has baring on the story, although I am sure most of the time you are correct.

The article I read said “Ngunnawal Woman found dead in car in Gungahlin” so I thought maybe one was Suburb and one was ancestry.

No, but the media refers to persons by their suburb of residence in every story ever written and never by their ethnic/cultural background.

I thought the thread was a question, and I still do.

It is not inappropriate, nor is it insensitive, particularly as it is seeking further evidence over what was reported in the press – public information. Read the top post by PBO again to confirm.

Take some hardenup, and build a bridge, you princesses.

Toodles,

Mæl.

stuff the grammar, this thread should be deleted anyway

If you saw an article saying “Lesbian gets a Brazillian”, would you assume it was a resident of Lesbos that was procures a resident of Brazil?

Ditto to those who say this one should be deleted. No public interest, nothing but a sad death. Not a subject for any form of humour, especially by strangers. Sympathy to the family and friends, especially those who may have been hurt by some of the posts.

Well well go away for a few weeks and this is what I return to. Having attended her funeral on Friday I can tell you all this much, ‘that dead lady’ did have a name , did have a family, and friends who cared. I could go on but whats the f…. point (and anyway I’m more of a you me outside kind of person)

TAD: I am sure that the article I read said “A Ngunnawal woman was found dead in her car…”. Anyway, I am just telling you how I saw it.

If you saw an article saying “Lesbian to be married in Canberra”, would you assume it was a resident of Lesbos that was here for their nuptials?

by the way the death was not suicide but health related. It just looked a bit strange apparently at the time hence the media involvement.

Agree that it should be deleted and the title should never have got through quality control. It’s just a rubber necker query.

not even funny….

Respect, Danman. Apologies for any offence caused.

However, with the level of nit-picking, pointless threads/posts/replies/comments/etc., and sheer crassness of some of what that ends up on this site, I didn’t think my comment was all that bad.

Agreed, this thread should be deleted.

Ngunnawal woman found dead in Ngunnawal.

Yep I can see the confusion.

When I hear about a man found dead in Downer, I immediately assume they mean the former Foreign Minister.

shanefos not even funny….

TAD: Actually, I thought exactly the same thing when I read “Ngunnawal woman…” in the original article.

This article (and subsequent postings) does seem in poor taste and timing.
While we have something in a similar vein likely to gather attention, can we remove the “Dying Peter Leonard” article?

CanberraResident10:33 am 15 May 08

Can someone please remove this post. Very insensitive.

If it was your mother, sister, aunty, grandmother or daughter, would you want this discussion to be taking place?

For Heaven’s sake, RA must draw the line somewhere. Please.

Why is this post here? Why she died should be of interest to noone other than her family.

Only ambiguous to you p1.

It only made the media because police wanted to know from the public any sightings of her movements.

This wouldn’t have made the papers as usually happens with the dozen odd suicides and dozen odd drug overdoses a year.

On a related note:

In the original articale that I read about her being found dead, it simply stated that a “Ngunnawal Woman” was found in her car. At the time I had to wonder briefly if she was from Ngunnawal, or a member of the local indiginous community (a Ngunnawal person). Someone has since suggested that they spell it differently for the two uses (I’m not certain of this), but either way I found the articile ambigous.

Shame about the lady, whatever the circumstances. Danman I think you might be right, sounds a bit like a suicide to me. I read a snippet in last weeks chronicle about it but not much info was given out.

Danman said :

My brothers housemate went there about a year ago and the coroner took him home 🙁

So you’re saying that the place is also a place to pick up?

Natural causes. Yes, she was young, but it happens sometimes.

Couldn’t you have used a more tactful title for this article? The ‘dead lady’ happens to have a family who are still grieving.

Not suspicious = either suicide or natural causes, I would sy that, given media does not report on suicides that they jumped the gun on this one and then realised it was a suicide (maybe) and stfu.

I know there is a bush track off to the side of one of the roundabouts on the western end of Ngunnawal that is popular with stoners and people who wish to end their own lives… How do I know?

My brothers housemate went there about a year ago and the coroner took him home 🙁

WIN news mentioned that cause of death was not obviously suspicious, but that police are still investigating.

Another stimulating thread taking up bandwith.

Yeah, a whole 42.87 kb! Man, I could have fit in an entire extra blink in the time I wasted on this thread.

Reckon I should take this up with The Canberra Times? Or maybe Today Tonight!

Another stimulating thread taking up bandwith.

There was a mention of it in the CT in the last few days. Can’t remember the details but nothing suspicious.

She is now a Greens candidate on the ACT LA elections

She was probably buried or cremated.
