Does Goulburn need more imagination?

My TV was just graced with a less than inspiring ad for the Australia Day Ute Muster in Goulburn.

Was there a hole in the market for ute musters?

Should Goulburn have found something more novel to hang its tourism hat on?

just make sure that you wear an akubra. they can smell fakes a mile off.

A Ute Muster you say? Finally, an opportunity to offload the collection of several thousand oversize novelty mudguards I have in the shed…

I’m thinking the only hope for Summernats is to simultaneously also hold a Beerfest at Goulburn and a Sexpo at Cooma. Divide and conquer, I reckon.

*smirk*

What a conundrum for the breast-flashing women! What a dilemma for the beer-swilling drunkards! And, oh, what a quandary for the loose-lipped and multi-tentacled sexual harrassers and gropers!

*gasp*

‘Alas and oh no! Where should I go to flash and grope and vomit?’ they will cry ….

Well, there’s a thing I’ve not come across before! Hope someone does a review!

I also reckon the abbatoir could be an interesting tourist destination. I tried to buy some merchandise at the petrol station last time I was there, and was extremely disappointed not to find a steak and kidney keyring or such like. Or a t-shirt saying, ‘My heart belongs to Goulburn. Wool Scour Abattoir.’

Or guided tours through the Carney ancestral home might be nice.

Granny, you crack me up ! What’s more, I believe you have a big future in tourism. Perhaps you can come up with something novel to replace Summernats. The future of North Canberra is in your hands.

I’m in favour of it.

Don’t go if you don’t want to… SIMPLE.

No need to have a go at those who do just because your not into utes.

And Goulburn needs the business as the drought is hitting them pretty hard.

Good on those who thought of it.

Is the big merino getting a bit grubby these days? I guess Gouldburn needs all the tourism dollars it can get.

Ute musters are pretty good. I guess Goulburn wants to get in on Deniliquin’s act. I like the ute movement. it’s uniquely Aussie, allows the country lads to express themselves and the way it’s evolving is good. You have the various different “schools of thought” on ute-improvement, some of it is witty, eccentric, but always entertaining.

It isn’t piggy-backing off foreign trends, unlike street machines, muscle cars and fast fours. It’s australian.

I might even head up there to have a look.

I think it’s great, but over three days? They’ll have to put on a lot of other entertainment to get people to stay that long.
