Motorists have been urged to drive with care following an oil spill on Barrier Street in Fyshwick.

ACT Fire & Rescue crews were called to the incident just before 1.30pm and used sand to cover and maintain the fuel on the road.

With wet weather continuing, Roads ACT has urged motorists to drive carefully along the 400-metre stretch, from the intersection with Ipswich Street to the service station.

Warning signs have been erected to alert motorists to the spill.
