Hi all,
Got some family visiting over the Easter break and looking to show them some of Canberra’s better cuisine – and by that I don’t mean Kingsley’s. Am only fairly new to town, so not too sure where to find what I’m looking for!
Easter Monday is my mother’s birthday, so I was hoping to find somewhere good for a family lunch that’s not too pricey, under say $25 for mains. Mum has to travel home later in the day, so dinner’s no go.
Having heard a lot of good things about them at work, Zeffirelli’s sounded perfect but they’re not open for lunch on public holidays. Our only dietary requirement is nothing too spicy as we’ll have a 5 year old with us.
Anyone got a suggestion?
Brodburger for lunch!

You’re welcome.
“…Zeffirelli’s sounded perfect…”
I’m afraid you can’t be helped.

Haha I should’ve expected Riot Act’s favourite burger joint to get a mention – it’s not a bad idea but ultimately it’s still a burger, brie or no brie!
I would also like advice on where to eat over Easter – to suit a three generations. We are currently booked at the Scope cafe (on Mt Stromlo), however the majority of reviews on RA are pretty bad!

I wouldn’t rate Scope either. Nice view, but that’s as much as I would say. I think they are run by the same people from The Blue Olive in the city. The food there is great but service a bit dodgy.
Have you tried Lanyon Homestead. Food is good, eating outside is just glorious in the early autumn and there are interesting things for kids and adults to wander round and have a look at. Best of all it is very far from the madding crowd. I think they do an Easter hunt so it may be a bit busier than usual and you may need to book.

I really love Grazing at Gundaroo if you don’t mind a 20-25min drive.

great if you can get hold of an entertainment book/card holder for 25% off
I also love Sage at Gorman House

ditto with the entertainment book
Otherwise Yum Cha is always a crowd pleaser for a lunch time activity and the Scholar in Dickson can’t be beat.
Good but cheap if you’ve got a 5 year old is a Bite to Eat in Chifley (hit and miss, but last time I went it was a hit)

and I’ve been meaning to go to the Lanterne rooms for ages:
