Canberra stencil artist of great repute and all round good guy ELK has launched a crowdfunding drive:

I would like to raise funds to help with creating a new body of work. The money will be used for materials, but mainly to cover the cost of living for 3 months of solid hibernation and production in June/July/August this year.

I will be doing a run of paper print stencils, one for each person that contributes. Also I will be giving artworks to larger donations, its a gift that keeps giving.

Hey Verbalkint, your totally right, please excuse my atrocious grammar. If you are keen to donate, use your cursor to explore the big green button that says “support Project”

Hey Anchor, hit me up at elkstencils@hotmail, I do occasionally run workshops from either my studio or belconnen art centre, I’ll let you know when one is coming up.

I am keen to donate. Maybe inconjunction to the drive you could offer lessons to aspiring artists to get some extra cash – I know I would be interested.

Hey, love your work, just two things though:

From the website that JB linked: “one also in May in Melbourne at the Brunswick Street Gallery in Fitzroy, come along if your free.” That should be “you’re” (sorry).

Also, I can’t find any details on there about how I would contribute to the project, because I’m interested.

I’m sure she’s lovely, I’m just a bit sensitive about people implying that i’m lazy.

Thanks for your feed back Cordellia, If you have to know I already have a full time job, which is the only way at the moment that I can create and exhibit my work. I don’t work for commission and I don’t apply for grants, and the process off working full time and spending 30hrs a week on top of that making art is actually f*** with my head, but I don’t mind doing it the hard way.
My whole arts practice up until now has come solely from my back pocket, I’ve never seen a cent of your taxes, so don’t complain if I seek some assistance.
I only hope one day you’ll be telling your grandchildren about the time you could have had an original E.L.K for $20, but didn’t, because your too much of a tight arse.

Cordelia thinks Frank Fenner was a failure as a human being.

disappointing her is a mark of status in the world.

You actually have to stump up $20 before you get a paper stencil – so the ad is a bit misleading … if you contribute $19 of your hard-earned, you get nuffink.

I wouldn’t trust the grants process anywhere, let alone here, with the future of art.

Why don’t you get a part-time job and raise the money yourself? Or go for grants? We spend a fortune on artists through our taxes already, thanks!
