Erindale development site?

Any Rioters know what is happening at the old The Garden site at Erindale (remember those Botanicus Perfectus ads)?

I assume it’s all fenced off for development, or do the squatters like a bit of privacy nowadays?

I loved that garden centre. *sigh*

DA has been approved. Half the site will have a two story office block while the rest will have shops. I think its up to 8 shops. Will have a basement car park and parking out the front for about 20 cars. Hopefully will spruik up the place.

The old garden centre went bust I believe – water restrictions hit hard on the garden centres, plus Bunnings selling cheap plants.

Oh great just what that street needs more shops and less parking

Agreed. What a stroke of planning genius that precinct was.

Welcome to development in the big city. Lots of people keep saying how we need to grow up as a city and have higher densities, and this is all part of it.

developus perfectus!

Bring back the garden centre I say. All we’ve got is Bunnings for plants. Surely there is scope/demand for more garden centres in Tuggeranong. The one at Weston Creek seems to be pretty successful. Does anyone know why it closed in the first place?

There was a DA for a mixed office/retail 2 storey building on the site a couple of months back, guessing the DA must have been approved.

More likely the owners having a fit over the public liability issue of the car park being used by the gymnastics centre next door since they built over theirs.
