Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular at the Canberra Theatre

Fri. 11 April 2008, 7:30pm

Sat. 12 April 2008, 2:00 pm & 7:30pm

Dear Sir/Madam

The classical Chinese dance company, Divine Performing Arts, continues its international Chinese Spectacular tour with sell out shows from Broadway to London. It returns to Canberra with a dazzling new program on 11 & 12 April 2008. The Spectacular features Chinese classical dance with stunning high-tech backdrops, gorgeous costumes inspired by ancient Chinese scrolls, and music that blends techniques from the West with melodies from the East. Its artistry captures the eyes, enraptures the senses, moves the heart, and stirs the soul. Sadly, decades of repression have seen these traditions nearly destroyed.

I think you have this mixed up with something else. This is not an exhibition to do with the Falun Gong. Further, if you knew anything about Falun Gong, you would know it is nothing more than a group that espouses humanist principles, such as compassion and harmony, and practises light exercises in parks. It is not in the least cult-like, by any stretch of the imagination.

By all means go but you’ll get a dose of Falun Gong cult propaganda. ( But hey, you’d be in good company getting up the Chinese government at the moment.)
