KP Records and the Tent Embassy are letting you know that New York Hip Hop kingpin KRS One is going to be making a solidarity visit to the Tent Embassy when he’s here in Canberra on 12 April (to play on 13 April).
This special meeting will be conducted at the Tent Embassy to give KRS One a for a firsthand look at the site and to learn about the Aboriginal Culture and conditions ofAboriginal people in this region.
The hope is that the Aboriginal community can give our special guest an accurate depiction of what life is like in Canberra for today’s Aboriginal Men and Women.
Fantastic stuff! Welcome to The Teacha!

Pretty cruisy compared to those out on desolate, isolated missions and bushcamps where the real help is needed.
Good on him for doing so but if he was serious he’d be heading elsewhere.
An accurate depiction of Aboriginal life from members of the Tent Embassy?
They’re kidding, right?
Who the hell is KRS One

A legend in his own mind. The whole hip-hop/R&B scene does nothing better than blind self-promotion. Check wiki for his chart history; he’s a nobody. A nobody who will issue press releases and get splashed by the lazy hacks who are the Aus. media. Yawn.
How appropriate. They deserve each other.

Interesting. Do you judge all music artists solely by the number of albums they’ve sold?
Fans of KRS-One will be pretty excited to hear that he’s coming: As he doesn’t fly, this could be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

What, a big shouty (c)rap star is feared of flying. You couldn’t make it up!
Yes, because what Australian aborigines really need is some role-models like KRS One. That should really help them get up and go places.

The ones who claim to be legends/founding fathers/etc, yes I do. Especially those I’ve never heard of. How does a musician claim such influence when no-one’s buying/listening to their stuff? Pure shameless self-promotion.

Yes, they’ll both be thrilled. All three, if you count KRS-One himself.
I couldn’t be less whelmed.

No, he can’t afford the ticket. Neither of his fans have bought the latest album yet.
