ACT Policing arrested a 21-year-old Higgins woman yesterday (20 November) in relation to a fire at a Kambah residence earlier this year.

The blaze, which started in the garage, spread to the house on Stymers Street in the early hours of Wednesday 2 September.

The garage and entire contents, including a Subaru WRX, were completely destroyed in the fire. The main part of the residence also caught alight causing substantial roof damage.

The fire is estimated to have caused in excess of $122 600 in damages to the residence and property.

The four occupants who were inside the house were alerted by a neighbour and managed to escape the blaze. A 55-year-old man suffered burns to the soles of his feet and was treated at the scene by ACT Ambulance Service.

On 14 September 2015, a stored communications warrant was obtained which provided evidence towards the investigation, and a number of people are now assisting police with their enquiries.

The woman will appear in the ACT Magistrates Court this morning (21 November) facing charges of arson. Police will be opposing bail.
