Florey Pizza fire

ACT Fire & Rescue are on scene at a pizza restaurant at the Florey shopping centre, Ratcliffe Crescent and Connah Street investigating smoke logging.

The area has been evacuated as a precaution.

Update to follow.

10:43 AM

Building was unoccupied and firefighters were required to force entry.

Smoke was from a pizza oven.

Crews are currently conducting ventilation operations.

Quick thinking from a fire warden in the building notified crews with an Emergency Triple Zero (000) call at 10.24am.

10:57 AM

Two fire pumpers, the Breathing Apparatus Van and a command vehicle attended.

Six businesses and approximately 40 people were evacuated as a precaution.

Fire crews will depart the scene shortly.

ACT Ambulance Service were also on scene supporting operations with no injuries reported.

Setting up a pizza business next to Dominos(which is apparently still going gangbusters) would be like banging one’s head against a brick wall,totally futile!
