MLA Andrew Barr has been busy today, attending the launch of this year’s Floriade this morning (as well as the UCSA reopening).

The theme of Floriade is to be Carnivale — the world on show, with flowerbeds inspired by “international flags, iconic symbols, history, flower festivals and traditional gardens” from 16 countries which are also hosts of major flower festivals.

Assisting Mr Barr with the launch was international model (and author) Tara Moss, wearing a dress created from red rose petals and tulips. Ms Moss gave the tourism minister some tips about what to do with his hands when being photographed and revealed that one of Australia’s premiers often poses with his hand behind his guest but not actually touching them. Mr Barr said he was worried about touching Ms Moss for fear of causing a wardrobe malfunction.

Floriade runs from 15 September to 16 October.

UPDATED: The Daily Telegraph has a piece on this along with a picture of Ms. Moss in her flower dress.
