Former taxi driver, Hamza Bilal (27) has been jailed for running over a passenger.

Mr Bilal pleaded guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm following a heated argument over the fare in March 2013. After Bilal dropped the victim off, he turned his car around and drove towards him on the wrong side of the road.

The man was dragged 50 metres, trapped between the wheels of the taxi before Bilal drove off and was left with life threatening injuries and permanent disabilities.

Bilal was sentenced to six years in jail with three years non-parole.

What disgusted me about this incident, back in March last year when this occurred, he continued to drive and accept fares for the remainder of his shift. Apparently he’s likely to get deported after the three year non parole period which would be fair and reasonable.
