Franklin house fire

ACT Fire & Rescue are currently on scene at a house fire on Christina Stead Street, Franklin.

Three fire pumpers currently on scene at the two storey house fighting the fire.

Update to follow

1:08 PM

Fire in a residence at a town house complex.

Residents safely self evacuated.

Crews are continuing to fully extinguish the fire and are conducting mopping up operations.

At this stage, no fire spread into neighbouring property.

Multiple Emergency Triple Zero (000) calls received from 12.45pm.

Update to follow.

1:28 PM

Fire has been extinguished.

Crews will shortly commence air monitoring and ventilation operations.

ACT Fire & Rescue Hazardous Materials Unit, the Breathing Apparatus Van and two commanders are also on scene. The Bronto Skylift Hydraulic Platform has been called to the scene to investigate from the air the extent of the structural damage to the roof.

ACT Ambulance Service intensive care paramedics are also on scene supporting operations with no injuries reported.

Crews will soon commence air monitoring operations.

Extensive damage to the top floor.

Fire started in a study at the residence.

2:34 PM

Estimated damage $200,000.

The roof of the two story townhouse has also been damaged.

Investigations into the cause of the fire have commenced and believed to be not suspicious.
