An exquisite ‘Rockstars and Royalty’ gown inspired by La Mothe-Chandeniers, the splendid 13th-century castle in the town of Les Trois-Moutiers, will be the striking centrepiece of a fashion parade at Telopea Park’s La Grande Fête on Saturday 1 November.

In a true ‘French connection’ fete-goers will be able to get up close and personal to the hand-made ‘Hide From Time’ gown that wowed the audience at Fashfest 2014, and its designer, Vicky Kidd-Gallichan. Vicky will be joined by several other designers, including Zilpah Tart, Wnd.Lnd and BMdesigns, for the fashion parade, which will also feature vintage pieces styled by the Fashfest team.

The collaboration with Fashfest is just one element of the popular annual event at Telopea Park School. Principal Kerrie Blain said La Grande Fête brings a strong French polish to the traditional Australian school fête at the Lycée Franco-Australien de Canberra, combining multicultural fun, food and entertainment stretching into the twilight hours.

“There’s something for everyone – including carnival rides, a medieval display by the Canberra-based ‘battle sports’ group The Hundred Swords, a display of a range of French Cars, entertainment, market stalls, and a veritable cornucopia of food and drinks.

“Fete-goers can also purchase a ticket in the Raffle Extraordinaire for a chance to win $5000 towards two return airfares to Paris,” Mrs Blain added.

One of the largest public school fetes in the ACT, La Grande Fête will take place from 2:30pm to 7pm on Saturday 1 November. The fashion parade will commence at 3pm.
