Did anyone see Gazza Humphries on the 7.30 Report on Monday. He’s certainly making a name for himself re. the ACT Government’s plans for gay marriage.

It appeared on the program that the ABC played their normal dirty tricks and bias by interviewing the bearded one first and then running to Stanhope with Gazza’s comments thus giving Nero a free kick.

I hear on the rumour mill that both Nero and Gazza will soon appear, with no doubt some gay activists and ‘happy clappies’, on an edition of Insight (SBS).

That will be interesting viewing!

Humphries has said in a public forum that his opposition to the ACT Civil Union bill is that it looks too much like marriage (conveniently forgetting that no rights are being achieved federally, as under marriage, by the ACT bill).

Nonetheless, he has said that if the Feds plan to overturn the ACT bill, then he’d prefer a non-territory (ACT) specific discriminatory approach by the Feds. That is Humphries wouldn’t like to see the ACT singled out and that any move to limit civil unions in Australia should rightly apply to ALL states and territories.

Given the feds unlikely desire to get dragged into the High Court for limiting the states powers in this way (and only the states since the ACT is absolutely under the jurisdiction of the feds) – I’d be interested to see if Humphries crosses the floor in the Senate to oppose Territory specific anti-CU legislation.
