The Brumbies have tweeted that legendary number 7 George Smith is getting back on the bandwagon:

Rugby Heaven had the news a few minutes ago:

Smith is contracted with Suntory Sungoliath, but the Japanese club has allowed the former Brumbies No.7 to rejoin his old club on an initial 12-week contract.

Suntory’s season finished on Sunday and the players don’t start pre-season training until June.

With backrower Ita Vaea ruled out for the season due to a heart condition, the Brumbies looked for cover for the big No.8 and hatched a cunning plan – the return of one of the club’s favourite sons.

Brumbies back coach Stephen Larkham confirmed the loss of Vaea was the reason behind Smith’s signing.

Er, what’s a podcast?

So, does this mean UC will be annoiting him as “Backrower in Residence”?

The Brumbies need no longer worry about focusing on handling. As long as we can tackle the opposition, either Pocock or Smith will retrieve it and off we go again.

In line with the Brumbies new recruitment policy, I suggest their next buy be Ipolito Fenukitau.

Yippeeee!!!! That’s awesome news. Let’s hope he’s over here and ready to go at it by 1 March.

Rathbone and then Smithy, who’s next to return? Gregan? Joe Roff!

Smith & Pocock v the Waratards……. I’m salivating!
