Geoscience Australia Open Day – Sunday 19 August 2012

Geoscience Australia will open its doors for its annual Open Day on Sunday 19 August 2012 as part of National Science Week. Come and find out in a fun and engaging way how Geoscience Australia is applying geoscience to Australia’s most important challenges.

There will be a range of activities and science talks throughout the day highlighting Geoscience Australia’s broad range of work. Free fun for all the family!

Learn how earthquakes are detected, pan for gold, sieve for sapphires, tour the purpose built building, view Australia in 3D, watch a volcano erupt or become a seafloor detective. Spot a roving Erth dinosaur or talk to a real geoscientist.

When: 10am – 4pm, Sunday 19 August 2012
