ACT Policing is investigating a series of burglaries which occurred yesterday (Wednesday 12 June) in the Gordon area.

A number of items were stolen during the burglaries including cash, Apple iPads, jewellery and a camera.

In each case it appears that windows were broken or doors were tampered with to gain entry into each home.

Police would like to remind people of the importance of securing their home at all times. Officer-in-Charge of Crime Prevention Station Sergeant Harry Hains reminded residents they must maintain close attention to home security.

“Make sure garage doors and sheds are secure with deadlocks and valuables are not visible through windows.” Station Sergeant Hains said.

“If possible, install a visible alarm system which covers all external doors and windows as this can be an effective deterrent for intruders and thieves.”

For advice on home security, visit the Safety at Home section of the ACT Policing website or get in touch with your local Neighbourhood Watch Association through their website.

Police would like to urge anyone who may have seen anyone suspicious in the Gordon area to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website on www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information may be provided anonymously.
