Grassfire in the Tuggeranong Pines

ACT Fire & Rescue is currently working to extinguish a grass fire in the Tuggeranong Pine Plantation, Monaro Highway, Tuggeranong.

Three ACT Fire & Rescue units are currently on scene.

Estimated size of grass fire, one hectare.

No property currently under threat.

Update to follow.

Two units from the ACT Rural Fire Service are also assisting ACT Fire & Rescue in extinguishing the grass fire.

Crews are using water and foam solution to extinguish the fire which is slow moving.

Fire is controlled but not contained at this stage.

Time of Emergency Triple Zero (000) call 12.36pm.

Update to follow.

1:20 PM

Crews have now contained the grass fire and are conducting mopping up operations.

1:44 PM

Grass fire has been extinguished and crews will depart the scene shortly.

Grass fire was in NSW, immediately adjacent to the rail corridor on the NSW/ACT border.

Cause of fire deemed suspicious.
