Upcoming Event – Friday May 2 – Garema Place – GreenScreen
Do you like chilling out, listening to great music and watching some fantastic
films? If so, Greenscreen is for you! Hosted by the Conservation Council and ACT
otherWISE and organised by youth for youth, Greenscreen will provide fun
entertainment with an environmental focus.

To be held on Friday 2 May in Garema Place from 5.00-10.00pm, Greenscreen aims
to promote the practical things people can do to reduce their impact on the
environment and become more sustainable. It will also give everybody the
opportunity to get involved in ongoing projects that seek to raise awareness and
address critical environmental issues.

Bands playing include the local and wonderful Andi and George Band, Caracol and
Changeable Dan . Films shown will include ‘Uranium, What Lies Beneath,’ by
local Canberra producer Mary McCartney and three environmental short films by
Nuff Films.

There will be a number of stalls at Greenscreen which will provide valuable
resources and information about anything and everything green as well as belly
dancers, a massive clothes swap (so bring along your old clothes), fashion
parades and more!
Environmental sustainability has been paramount in the planning of this event,
and thus a number of measures have been put in place in order to ensure that we
make this the greenest event possible. Guidelines have been developed for store
holders that will enable them to reduce waste, consumption and energy use, and
have encouraged them to support sustainable practices such as organic and
FairTrade farming. All participants can help up by doing the following :
-Travel to the event by bicycle, public transport or car pool, if practical
– Support the environmentally friendly stalls at the event
– Bring a mug
– Help by donating money towards offsetting our emissions/purchasing green
power and carbon credits
