Word has been out that Hamish and Andy’s ‘the people’s chip’ is now available at some select Coles and Woolworths stores. I guess its true too, because the ones on ebay are now selling for as less as $1.

I have been to Coles Manuka, Curtin and Woden, with no luck.

Has anyone found this elusive chip?

[ED – Can anyone explain the excitement to the rest of us?]

I wouldn’t buy any chips with these 2 douche’s faces on the packet. I mean come on, these guys make Rove look like Bill Hicks!

Andy Lee should have been a magician not a comedian, his greatest trick would be getting Megan Gale in the sack.

Anyway, to stay on topic, one of my staff had some of these chips and I had a couple, not much chop really I must say.

Try the Coles Xpress servo’s
we got a whole heap of them in..

I heard that these chips are only being released for 2 weeks only.

Can anyone confirm this?

I can’t fathom how to do it.. embed it in something that becomes gel as soon as it hits the chips? Need a scientist…

Meanwhile, as a general service announcement, never have poutine.

These are crisps! They could flog them to the Candadians, anyone had Poutine? One of the worst things to do to chips ever.

I wish they’d invent Chip Vinegar that doesn’t evaporate as soon as it hits the chips. Nothing worse. At work you can smell Vinegar Chips all over teh building, but you can bet that the person eating them isn’t getting any vinegar.

LOL – start experimenting. You could make millions with your idea Ant!!

Woolies Erindale and Tuggeranong have SOLD OUT!

They both stated they were supplied 14 boxes and Tugg sold out in 1.5 days and Erindale in 3!

So what if it’s not Hamish & Andy’s, it’s still a gravy chip!

I don’t believe they ever were Hamish & Andy’s gravy chip – that was just the marketing angle the company opted to use for their trial promotion.

Thanks Madman.

You would probably be best asking someone who works there about them.

is this where i go into hiding, about the fact that i work for woolies? (much to my disgust, may i add?)

i’m presuming all stores have them, but only for two weeks 🙂

then its back to ebay 🙂

Thanks Madman.

You would probably be best asking someone who works there about them. (Someone younger who would be aware of it in the first place). That’s the only reason I found them. They were just in a cardboard box lying on the ground at the back of the store at the end of the shelves.

I liked the thread – I actually didn’t know this was out because I HomeShop.

So it was a relitevly good peice of information to me. I’m off to erindale on the wat home.

No. I’m just a person who likes hot chips and gravy, so why wouldn’t I want to try these?

Um. Right. I don’t see what that has to do with anything. I don’t watch South Park either, so I didnt get that reference in the other thread.

Not that is is any of your business, but yes, I will be going to the Opening Night, as I prefer the idea of controlled number of people being allowed in that night, and not going another day when it is potentially overcrowded.

Well, we wouldn’t want to think you might be one of those people that just has to go out and buy every new thing that commercial radio or television tells you to.

Who said riotact was only a news forum. Their header clearly says “The-RiotACT is an online Riot for the Canberra (ACT) Region. It’s an open forum, an ACT online soapbox. It is “right of reply”.”

A lot of the articles on here are a waste of time for me, but that doesn’t bother me, as it is an OPEN forum.

It is a Canberra specific topic because I am asking where in Canberra to buy them.

Are the threads asking for good GPs in Canberra not Canberra-specific?

In other news, I found the chips at Belconnen Woolworths last night. Thank you.

So I guess you’ll be at DFO on opening night picking up your three copies of Time Cop as well?

Er, is this news? It’s hardly a Canberra-specific topic. Where’s VG to tell us it’s all a waste of time? C’mon Johnboy, how’d you let this one slip through???

Aldi roquefort/caramelised onion chip.

I love these in small quantities.. I find if I have too many in one sitting and the taste really starts to get annoying. That said…. MMMmmmmmmm!

Woolie’s Gungahlin on Saturday looked like they only had one box left on display, brought them because my son wanted them.

I agree with everyone else, very bland and not worth the hype or effort looking for them.

There chips…… Hamish and Andy have done better things.

I bought a pack at Woolworths Tuggeranong this morning. And I agree with most of the other posters – it wasn’t a taste sensation.

When Hamish&Andy were running the “flavour competition”, some bogan from Queensland proposed “Pineapple and Lime”. I reckon that would be worth a try!

And if anyone from Austereo or FM104 or whatever is reading this… can we please get Hamish’s ugly mug off the packet? And Megan Gale’s on it?

Woolies at Erindale has them.

Gravy is a pretty vague flavour in any case….

May as well be cordial flavour.

i think i was imaginaring things, lanyon doesnt seem to have any gravy chips.

oh well. they can do without them.

and yeah, they’re only here for two weeks, so after then you can check ebay 😀

Well why not get excited, after all, the Gravy chip is a gastronomic breakthrough in potato chip technology. Instead of dunking the chip in hot gravy, one merely eats a chip coated in the gravy powder.

I still have a box from 104.7 at home but saw them today in Woolies in QBN. They are in a special stand all on their own on the right hand side of the store next to the fruit area. Selling for $1.99 a pack.

Enjoy while you can, they are a limited release.

I might have a look at Kippax woolies on the way home this afternoon.

If not, I’ll try Kambah tomorrow.

Tuggeranong/Lanyon is a bit too far south.

Thanks!

Hubby found them at the register at Kippax Woolworths when we were doing our groceries on saturday – $1.99 for a small pack (100g I think?).

They were ok, they did taste like gravy, which I had forgotten is actually quite salty.

the hype was definately bigger than the reality though.

Hamish and Andy do a drive radio show from Melbourne which is syndicated to Adelaide, Canberra and a heap of other places.

Honestly there is nothing great about these chips, I tend to agree with RAGD, chicken and bbq is the flavor I tasted when I tried them… Bring back bacon rings, does anyone remember bacon rings???

and in my opinion, they taste like all the seasonings smith’s had put together..bleugh.

They do a show 4-6pm weekdays on 104.7.

no idea.

i saw them in the impulse buy area (for those who have never worked in retail, the area just before the registers and such, lol) and didnt even check if they were in the normal isle.

Woolworths Gungahlin.

I don’t know who these Hamish and Andy people are, but I couldn’t imagine anything more revolting than their ‘gravy chips’.

Thanks.
Anywhere Central/Northside?

And are they just in the chip section amongst other Smith’s varieties?

pfft, i’ve still got a packet from the original chip launch at home!!

(gosh darn it, my selling it on ebay idea later will fail! damn!)

i saw them in tuggeranong and lanyon woolies…

yeah, when they were first released by Hamish and Andy, people started selling them on ebay for like $40.

Now that they are available in stores they are selling for like $2.

I would rather get some from a store rather than ebay.

I’ve heard you can find them on eBay……

Helpful comments would be appreciated. Thank you to those who have posted them.

Had some (sourced from Kambah, I am informed). OK, but not exciting in any way. Compared with the Aldi roquefort/caramelised onion chip, it’s a dud.

Rodickulous?

Ruddiculous?

I know, its rediculous. I figured they would come out in retail eventually, now its just a matter of finding them!

I got a packet from Kambah woolies on the weekend, nothing too special, these guys are on 140.7 in the arvo, pumped in from Sydney (I guess). They decided there should be a ‘peoples’ chip – with gravy flavour, and lobbied smiths to make it happen.

I can’t believe people paid like $30 for a packet of these on eBay.

Be that as it may, I would still like to sample them for myself.

So where can I find them?

Had them yesterday. I can’t explain the excitement, they tasted like chicken and bbq put together. Nothing exciting there.
