Has anyone used "Aged Care Connect" in Canberra?

I am just starting the process of moving my elderly parents into a retirement village.

I found an organisation on the web called “Aged Care Connect” that says they can help you negotiate the aged care system, help with the paperwork etc.

Have any rioters had any experience with this business?

My advice is that their are a few providers in Canberra who offer all choices, I would advise you to Google providers as some are not listed on aged funded sites mainly because they offer a range of services across the board. A good service provider will offer many choices before trying to offers there’s alone.

Not familiar with them but if you provide some more info, Rioters might be able to help a bit. What level of care are you looking for? Are you looking for Independent living (ILU – Independent Living Unit). These you generally”buy” like you would buy a house and then pay a weekly fee for the services, in the $100+per week vicinity depending on the place and the size of your unit. When you give up the unit, the Retirement Village buys it back from you less a percentage fee for each year you’ve been in there – the idea is that you will never make money on them but you shouldn’t lose either.

If you are looking for care (high/ low/hostel) it gets a lot more complicated in terms of bonds and the like and each facility varies. Your parents will need an ACAT (aged care assessment) first to determine their level of need.

My Mum is in a new ILU at Goddwin Monash and she (and I) are very happy with everything
