chicken pide

A newish player in the bus interchange HAS advertise with large banners that they do sub $10 meal deals.

On entering the store these deals weren’t entirely clear.

But they do have pides for $8.50, and I like a good pide.

On ordering the chicken pide I was advised there’s be a ten minute wait.

HAS is basically a kebab shop, but they also do a big line in turkish breads and pastries. (gozleme, breads and dips, pide etc).

Today it seemed to be run by a friendly family team who were doing a pretty good job.

And the pide?

As good as it looks. Soft and bready with tasty chicken filling and not excessively greasy.

(For more sub $10 lunches in Civic check the tag, if you’ve got recommendations let me know.)

………..& it looked nothing like the picture.

Just had a kbab from here.

I have been going here since they opened, before this thread, & have loved the service from the young guys that were there at the start. They had two sizes of kbabs, regular for 7.50 & large for 9.50.

Today I asked for the smaller kbab as I usually do (I have not been in for a while but I felt like one today) & ended up with a kbab that was 6-8″ in diameter. I dont know the exact price for it as I bought a shish kbab as well & the lot cost me $12.50. Most shish kbabs go for around 3.50- 5 bucks so I put this little kbab at around 7.50. It is about 1/2 the size of the old regular one at the same price which I did not think was good value for money.

I questioned them about it & the older guy straight away got the shits with me & said that he was the owner & they were always like that which wasnt the case as I have never recieved one that small when I asked for the small kbab (considering they are not advertising they are selling one that small).

While I was waiting I also noticed a lot of the prices were gone from all the signage too so you dont really know what the prices are of certian foods.

Anyway, I dont recommend this place anymore & if you do go there make sure you know what you are getting because things dont seem to be that freindly & open anymore.

P:S: there was a guy buying the chicken pide; it was already made up & the old guy microwaved it before giving it to the customer……..

Suggestion: Review of the Yum Yum Tree?

They used to do a roaring trade in hot roast beef rolls.

Canberra has lots of good turkish but you can’t beat a good chicken pide.

A step back up after the american fast food chain rubbish.

I keep reading it as HMAS Chicken Pride.

Now I can’t stop reading it as HMAS Chicken Pride.

Damn that looks good. I evidently didn’t have enough lunch. I can almost smell those sesame seeds.

Felt fresh and tasted fresh. Agreed on the gozleme.

Judging by the 10 minute wait I assume the Pide is fresh? I’ve tried the gozleme and it was a mess of reheated grease. They do a mean kebab though, something I would recommend trying.
