The St John’s Care Christmas Present Room has now opened for 2012, and will be operating until the 21st December from 9.30-2pm every weekday. St John’s Care has a room full of brand new toys, games, books and other gifts which have been donated by various organizations and members of the public, and we hope that no family in the Canberra region will have to go without this Christmas.

To be eligible to get a present, the child/children need to be on the parent’s Centrelink card, but anyone who meets this criteria is welcome to drop in to get assistance if they need to. Those who get assistance from the Present Room are also offered a hamper of Christmas food. As always, any individual or family is welcome to request food assistance from St John’s Care.

St John’s Care is also hosting the annual Canberra Community Christmas Day Lunch in the church hall. All are welcome to join us for lunch, to volunteer or both, and we especially encourage those who might otherwise be alone on Christmas to come. If you would need help with transport, or if you would be happy to give somebody a lift to or from the lunch, please call the office so that we can match drivers with non-drivers. No RSVP is necessary but if you would like to volunteer please call and let us know.

The Christmas Present Room and the Canberra Community Christmas Day Lunch are at St John’s Church, 45 Constitution Avenue, Reid. For more information call 6248 7771 or email stjohnscare@velocitynet.com.au. Please pass this information on to anybody you know who might be interested.
