Continuing their fine tradition of creating events that defy simple entry into the RiotACT’s categories database, You Are Here is hosting an exciting mix of old films, live performance, music and who knows what else at the National Film and Sound Archives on Tuesday the 19th.

The You Are Here festival and the National Film and Sound Archive are pleased to present the premiere performance of Hit Him in the Comic Cuts on Tuesday 19 March 8pm. For this collaborative project, three of Canberra’s most exciting experimental artists have been commissioned by You Are Here to create new performance works in response to select titles from the NFSA’s collection.

Shoeb Ahmad and the Silver Spine Arkestra provide a live soundtrack to a kaleidoscopic interpretation of the 1929 feature film, For The Term of his Natural Life.
Circus and theatre performer Pablo Latona takes you back in time into the audience of a swinging 1930s variety performance, reviving footage from Efftee Entertainers.
Musician and filmmaker Luke McGrath is joined by rock ensemble The Shine Tarts to perform an all-new live soundtrack to the 1922 silent film Sunshine Sally.
Watch these performers as they interact with extraordinary footage in the idyllic heritage surrounds of the NFSA courtyard. http://www.nfsa.gov.au/calendar/event/4239-hit-him-comic-cuts/

Like all You Are Here events, Hit Him in the Comic Cuts is free, but they do advise booking so here’s a number for you: (02) 6248 2000.
