Joy Burch has the happy news that the land has been sold for a childcare centre in Holt.

Ms Burch said the sale to developer Temloc Pty Ltd for $685,000 is part of the broader childcare planning strategy to ensure that Canberra families have choice in their children’s education and care, in areas most in demand.

The site is adjacent to the West Belconnen Child and Family Centre and is expected to create up to 125 additional places.

“Targeted land release for new childcare centres is part of the ACT Government’s significant investment in childcare to support the sector to grow and to provide more childcare places for Canberra families,” Ms Burch said.

I’m not entirely convinced that the ACT Government micromanaging land release for very specific use purposes is going to end brilliantly for the community.
