A 23-year-old man from Eden, New South Wales will face ACT Magistrates Court this morning after being found in possession of a home-made shotgun.

About 8.15pm last night (Thursday, 12 September), Criminal Investigations detectives were conducting a mobile patrol of Clift Crescent, Richardson when they observed a yellow Toyota Hi-Ace van parked off the road.

During conversations with the man, the sole occupant of the vehicle, he informed police he had a loaded home-made shotgun wrapped in a towel behind the front seat of the van.

Police observed the barrel of the firearm protruding and seized it. The man was arrested and conveyed to the ACT Watch House.

Detectives executed a search warrant on the vehicle, during which they seized ammunition and an illegal dagger.

Police will oppose bail.

All firearms have the potential to kill people quickly and horribly. Anybody who is carrying an illegal firearm in public is a potential murderer, and should receive a mandatory period of incarceration with no debate entered into. There is simply no excuse for it.

Same for car thieves.

Beyond that, I reckon that anybody who is caught carrying an illegal firearm should be shot with it, just so they get to really understand the consequences of what they were doing.

And I bet it had nothing to do with one of those evil 3D printers.
Couple of bits of steel pipe is all it takes.

DUDE!!!! Dont tell everyone! Now anyone with a bit of ######### sense, a Hack###, a Ham#### and a Fi## could figure out how it is done. Better nip this in the bud and put out a blanket ban on ######’s.

Back in my day it was called the number sign, of course, that was back when a pair of boobs were 2 idiots, duckfaces stayed on ducks, facebook was the album of mugshots in the security guards office and a pedofile was something you used on your feet.

Heck, back then, all you needed for a selfie was a little privacy and a magazine. Now it takes an Iphone!

What does an illegal dagger look like? As opposed to a legal one?

Well according to the Prohibited Weapons Act it is this:

a dagger or other similar device, that has a sharp-pointed stabbing instrument—
(a) that can be concealed on the person; and
(b) that—
(i) has a flat blade with cutting edges (whether serrated or non-serrated) along the length of both sides; or
(ii) has a needle-like blade, the cross section of which is elliptical or has three or more sides; and
(iii) is not a sword or bayonet
