How not to do a downfall video. A public safety announcement from the ACT ALP

There is little in this world as sad as Government and politicians trying to tap into the zeitgeist. Be it school kids bussed in for government organised “flashmobs” in the name of awareness raising, or “poetry slams” in public libraries with no booze of scoring.

But to that sad, sorry list of flabby failure the ACT ALP, via YouTube has added a stunning new low. It’s a totally unreadable Hitler Parody just like it’s 2006 all over again.

As is often the case with these things guys, brevity is the soul of wit.

UPDATE 21/11/12 10:30: We’ve had this in the comments:

Dear Johnboy and RA readers, please accept this apology. A team member was “experimenting” with Youtube last night and now deeply regrets not understanding this technology as well as one should before “experimenting”. It was not intended as a public post and any offence made to anyone, including fans of the original movie and subsequent parodies (of much better quality, in spelling and humour) is regretted. They have made an unqualified apology.

Meanwhile, for a good parody made using the same Downfall footage, last night’s Click Frenzy debacle has inspired this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GcgJORM-kV8

Titled: Hitler Finds Out that Click Frenzy Crashed. Labor Party person, watch and hopefully learn. And buy a dictionary (Spill Chucker doesn’t wurk).

Why anytime someone makes a mistake do we get cries for their sacking? Its hardly Watergate or any other gate for that matter. No real harm done apart from some red faces and I imagine a closed office door discussion. I forgot how everyone on RA was a perfect example of the working ethic and had never screwed up anything, ever.

You need to take risks in order to make progress. This will result in some progress and some cockups. Celebrate the progress, learn from the cockups, don’t shoot people who make cockups and never make the same cockup twice.

This was obviously a doofus cockup, probably by a junior person (or possibly personally ordered and scripted by Katy G…who knows), and the senior person has gracefully apologised and said they’ll try to avoid that particular cockup in the future. If this had been artfully done it could’ve panned out well and gone viral on the internet as a brilliant example of the razor sharp wit and intellect of the ACT ALP. Unlikely I know, but still…

I think this may actually be the first time in my lifetime that a political person has actually admitted being involved in a cockup *and* apologised for it. This is bloody revolutionary, so I’m cutting them some slack on this one.

The spelling alone points to a failed Labor education policy.

Exactly. If I was executed for everything I didn’t quite get right, I’d need the lives of 9 cats.

What?

Just happened to accidentally make the video and then accidentally set up a Youtube account and accidentally log on to that accidental account and accidentally hit download?

That can happen.

Classy work.

Although, might have accidentally forgotten to check the box that says “don’t make public” (or words to that effect).

Tell me, how much do these a-holes get paid?

Elias, was it you who was “experimenting”?

what’s a ‘scar campaign’? some sort of urban alternatives mob eschewing the traditional tatts for something altogehter more imposing?

It was lame and full of spelling mistakes, so justifiably deleted.

Someone has also identified found the source of this really bad parody as well… http://downfall.jfedor.org/ …There are cleary many tools that should never be so freely available on the internet.

And to answer another question, no one has been executed, but people will be advised and warned about experimenting on the internet.

Anybody happen to grab it?

I desperately want to see this because I’m a sick person. Anyone grab it have a link?

Elias, you do understand that if *someone* has downloaded the video in question, it’s never really going to go away, right?

No wonder Labor almost lost government in the election. Looks like the heavies have gone back to Sussex St and the locals are left struggling on their own.

Verboten, verbose and very lacking in the virtue of humility. Crap like this is one of the reasons that I have stopped voting Labor.

“This video has been removed by the user”

Damn, that was quick… I think they’re on to us…

Far out, the spelling is just aweful.

I think they had more fun in the Siege of Leningrad.

And it was shorter.

Easily the worst Downfall parody I’ve ever watched.

Quick question for the hive mind: Wasn’t it KatyG who asked for a kinder, more productive LA this time around? Looks like it’s “do what I say, not what I do”.

oh man, this is cringeworthy
