Hughes blaze

ACT Fire & Rescue has extinguished a fire in a three bedroom house on Jensen Street, Hughes.

The fire started in the master bedroom and spread throughout the house which sustained significant damage.

No damage to neighbouring properties with the fire contained to the house.

Four occupants safely self evacuated and contacted Emergency Triple Zero (000) at 5.46pm.

Three fire pumpers, the Breathing Apparatus Van, the Hazardous Materials Unit and a Command officer on scene.

The ACT Ambulance Service was also on scene supporting operations with no injuries reported.

Fire crews are currently conducting mopping up operations.

Cause of fire unknown at this time.

7:10 PM

Cause of fire deemed to be an electrical fault.

Occupants were notified of the fire by a well maintained, working smoke alarm.

ACT Fire & Rescue are about to depart the scene.
