I belong to a Community not-for-profit organisation.
Every year we hold a large fundraising ball. It’s our biggest fundraiser of the year. Black tie, live band, dancing, games, the whole sha-bang.
Next year, we are going to need a new MC.
We need someone who can appeal to all ages, Baby Boomers to the iGen.
Does anyone have any suggestions on Canberra Celebs or just darn good MCs we could hire for the night?

Scotty Masters from 104.7. Good bloke. I’m pretty sure he does MC’ing. He did for a friends wedding, but that’s because he was a friend of the groom.

Ross Solly is pretty good. I’ve been to a few funtctions that he’s mc’d and he’s always entertaining and works the crowd pretty well. One of them was a fundraiser and he did a good job getting people to donate.

Daniel Gibson The weather guy. I have been to a couple of functions that he has MC’d and he is hilarious.

Don’t do it. At the function I went to he was irritating and condescending, and failed to get names/places/causes right several times. I also want to throw something at the TV every time he comes on.

I was MC at a launch function at a very upmarket restaurant in Sydney about 8 years ago and I was crap.
The chef reminds me everytime I see him. I wouldn’t get me to do it.

Ha! Yep, that’s why I don’t service my own car and rarely pretend to be able to cook, choosing to pay others to do things that they can do better than me.

The function would be done with an air of “wing it when he gets there – did not do the preparation? so you will get – be overly quipy to look confident and laugh at his own jokes which are not funny, just talking rubbish about almost nothing of importance to the event, smugly charming…..and maybe no one will notice hosting” People are not that silly. Doubt it would be wise to engage him as your MC.

i’m with platinum in regards to daniel gibson. he spoke once at our schools year 6 graduation, rambled on about himself, no connection to his audience and that whole laugh at his own jokes was LAME.
Daniel Gibson would also spend most of the night sleazing onto anything with a pulse.
