On Saturday 08-APR-06 we did the Civic Public Art Walking Tour and lived to tell the tale.

And so, I present to you item # 36, Sweet Justice, by Wendy Mills. It’s in Hobart Place.

Sweet Justice - by Wendy Mills

The guide says:

Designed for Hobart Place, the work is
located near the law courts and many law
offices. The word ‘sweet’ appears under
water on a glass tile surface. In a gentle
comment on the activities of this area, the
word ‘justice’ periodically bubbles up from
beneath this surface. In Sweet Justice ,
the artist has combined three elements—
water, light and air.

We stood and stared in the windswept desolation of Hobart Place. But we saw no sign of any justice.

Yeah, well, when I took the perpetrator of an outrageous calumny to Court, my ‘justice’ bubble got burst…so I guess this is appropriate.

Justice appears in bubbles at 5.30pm (no really it does).

Desolate? Windswept? Sounds just like the real Hobart.
