The Balloon Fiesta this year has kind of passed me by. But thanks to Dorkus Mallorkus (honestly the names you people choose for yourselves) we have one of the magnificent Flying Scotsman balloon which, I’m told, has been gracing the skies of Canberra this week.

I think I read a quote from the pilot of the Flying Scotsman (the pilot is a Pom) wher he said something along the lines:

“Now we know what’s really up a Scotsman’s kilt – nothing but hot air”. The balloon is nicknamed “Pipie” or something similar.

Yeh, well it did look rather strange flying around last week. There was this thing hanging down between his legs – I assumed it to be the basket containing gleeful passengers and the chap firing great flames up the kilt. But from a distance I was reminded of awful scenes of elephantiasis, as witnessed in remote reaches of the Congo.

Insert joke about kilts and things found under them here…..
