interior painting cost in Canberra?

Hi Rioters,

I know this could be another version of how long is a piece of string, but can anyone give me a ballpark estimate of how much it would cost for a professional painter to prepare and paint 2 double bedrooms including wardrobe doors and ceilings?

Surfaces are fair wear and tear damaged, so a bit of spac required, and they have grubby marks on them.

I am talking about the painter having free access to cleared out rooms, so nothing tricky to interfere with the job.

Walk in, paint, walk out. How much?

We paid 4500 for our 3 bedroom house to be painted all through last year. Did a fair job. We had higher and lower quotes. For two bedrooms with clear access I would expect about $1500. Our painter put a lot of pressure on for cash in hand rather than direct deposit so make sure you sort out payment types/terms before the job is started. He had 4-5 blokes there and it took 3 full days.

Prepare yourself for a shock.

I got a couple of quotes late last year for inside our 3 bedroom house. I had already done the outside bits. Our house is small – the Sister-Out-Law calls it the “dogbox”. We have aluminium windows, so the only internal wood is skirting boards and half a dozen door frames.

Quotes were $4600 and $5100. I almost asked where the ‘Candid Cameras’ were. I was not expecting 5 grand for a few hundred bucks of paint and a couple of dudes on a one-day job.

So on that guide, expect $2k for 2 rooms.

For those that care… I’m doing the inside myself. Eventually, I promise.
