Is there a PUP Canberra branch?

By 23 July 2014 8

With yesterdays news that the Sex Party is running in the next ACT Election.  It got me thinking is PUP registered in the ACT as a party? Surely the ACT has a wanna be Jacqui Lambie ready to run, win and be Chief Minister. Any suggestions?

The register of ACT political parties as shown on the Elections ACT website doesn’t include the Sex Party or PUP at this stage, suggesting neither had the required number of members in the ACT as at 2nd July, the date the page was last updated.

According to the AEC website, PUP is registered federally and based in Brisbane. You could always contact them to find out if they’re plannng on running locally.

They ran a Senate candidate and a HoR candidate in Canberra in the last federal election, so I guess they do.

With the misfits we have currently in the ACT Legislative Assembly (evangelical Christian conservatives, socialists, people who would struggle to be productive in a sheltered workshop, etc) we don’t want to add to it with a Jackie Lambie Bogette.

If they don’t implode in the meantime, and if (that should be IF) they could attract a relatively high profile candidate, they could just be king or queen makers after the next ACT poll.

I spoke with some PUP people just last week. They haven’t the will, foresight or membership to form an ACT branch at this stage. But this could change very quickly because it’s money that drives the PUP, not conviction. The only prerequisite to be elected through Palmer’s party is an impoverishment of ideas – this is how Palmer maintains control of his senators… and in many instances, the entire Senate.

Parties can register at any time in the ACT. The Australian Sex Party has the numbers to register in the ACT and will do so very shorty. If you’d like to join for free please contact Deborah Avery at davery@sexparty.org.au. Of course our only prerequisite is that you do have convictions.

Cheers

“sheltered workshop”.

When I hear that expression I am reminded of someone I used to work with who also liked that expression. They regularly used it to describe our workplace. That person would arrive late at work, leave early and others had to make up for their laziness. They would have been sacked (in fact the process had been started), except they resigned before they could be.

I have always been let off with a stern warning and as a result have no convictions.
