New high performance team wear for cricket clubs - Steve Waugh & ONTHEGO Sports

It takes a long time to correct the boss’s salary!

By johnboy - 26 April 2013 8

The Auditor-General has released her report on “Executive Remuneration Disclosed in ACTEW Corporation Limited’s (ACTEW) 2010-11 Financial Statements and Annual Report 2011”.

While it seems everything else is in order it took a long time to clear up the matter of the Managing Director’s pay:

The issuing of a corrigendum for ACTEW’s Annual Report 2011 was not undertaken in a timely manner. ACTEW identified the error on 3 October 2012 and the corrigendum was issued on 8 March 2013. More timely provision of advice from the ACT Government may have reduced this time. The communication processes between the ACT Government and ACTEW need to be documented.

What’s Your opinion?

I don’t really understand why this has been such a big deal for such a long time. Can someone please explain?

The dude runs a business that supplies two things necessary for survival (water and electricity) to a captive market, which should be the worlds easiest gig, yet he gets paid $865K per annum IIRC. I think this means that he’s getting paid more than the ACT Chief Minister, and possibly the Prime Minister.

I reckon that deserves a raised eyebrow and a “please explain”.

Because he is good at negotiating his salary?

Don’t politicians get nice pension packages for life, not to mention all the other fringe benefits while in the job?
I’d prefer that the person running my essential services be paid a little more to ensure that he has a feeling of responsibility and accountability for the services he’s overseeing.

Without doubt someone running something like ACTEW is going to be paid six figures – but he’s getting paid more than the heads of government departments that manage thousands of staff Australia-wide.

Page 19 (executive salaries, the numbers that our CM refused to reveal) is interesting reading with a bloke named Ian Carmody (Director of Leaking Taps) getting $405,640.00 pa.
I wish I had a franchise like Actew.

This ^^^
Bring it back into the government. Rein in the excesses. Bias it back to conservation instead of “sales”.
Then do the same for Actew AGL.
