The Australian informs us that the Raiders’ star winger Joel Monaghan is planning to stay with the club until at least 2011.

“I’m looking at extending for a couple of years,” Monaghan said. “I think I have played my best footy when I have been in Canberra. Before I left I was playing pretty good and then I went away for three years and I struggled a bit.

“Coming back was the right move because I have made the Origin and Australian teams. I am very happy in Canberra.”

Would be brilliant if he re-signs, losing him when we’ve only just got him back in Green would be dissapointing.
We have alot of players coming off contract at the end of 2010, he and Campo need sorting now!

Also we do not want fat Gleeson from Warrington Wolves.

bd84, what part of “the Raiders’ star winger Joel Monaghan” is giving you trouble?

Bloody oath, this is great news!

Great to see a Canberra boy become one of Australia’s two best wingers. Even better that he wants to stick with the Raiders – good publicity for us and vindication of our strategy of developing local juniors.

Agreed Spitfire3, although at least he saw some ball last Sunday night, not like Origin when he was playing outside (d!ckhead) Jarred Hayne and barely touched the ball all night…

Excellent news.

I thought it was a shame Joel didn’t see much ball at the tail end of the kiwis game, he woulda blitzed em!

Joel, we like having you back.
