The Canberra Times is reporting that legendary AFL Coach Kevin Sheedy has a minor role for Joel Monaghan in his new Greater Western Sydney (with possible Canberra tie-in) side:

He said his job was to ”develop people” and try to guide them on the path of ”excellence in the sport of AFL”.

And he would use examples of athletes, from all sports, as a way to show his young charges the consequences of their choices.

In other news the boys will be boys brigade is picking up steam in the media and Joel’s manager reports that they’re yet to be inundated by european clubs clamouring for Joel’s services.

UPDATE: The SMH informs us that Mr Monaghan has indeed quit the club and will appear at a 3pm press conference with Raiders chief executive Don Furner and chairman John McIntrye.
